STUDENT SUPPORT FUND LAUNCHED
STUDENT SUPPORT FUND LAUNCHED BY SU
A new support fund to assist students with the purchase of college materials has been launched by the Students' Union.
Established for the first time this year, the fund is financed and administered by the Students Union.
UCD SU President Paul Lynam said "People who are struggling to find the resources to pay for college materials such as stationery, books, lab coats and others are all invited to apply.
Students can discuss the fund and get application forms from Scott Ahearn, the SU Welfare officer.
Creating a fund that would assist students in a straightforward and efficient way was among the top priorities of the SU for 2010/11. "
UCD SU Welfare officer Scott Ahearn said "The costs facing students coming back for a new semester are huge. Accommodation costs and the registration fee have to be paid before the student even sits down in a lecture theatre.
The fund will be allocated on a case by case basis and we welcome everyone who feels they need a bit of help to apply."
