SAVE OUR UCD BALL CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
UCD Students' Union has launched a Save Our Ball campaign following the decision of the UCD authorities not to support the UCD Ball.
The campaign was launched in response to the cancellation of the UCD Ball after University authorities refused to comply with a previous agreement in relation to the closure of the campus for the UCD Ball on April 21st 2011.
UCD SU President Paul Lynam said, "The SU will not just sit back and accept the cancellation of the Ball. We will do everything in our power to ensure every single option is explored to guarantee that the students of UCD get a Ball."
"We are calling on every single UCD student to unite behind this campaign and add their support to ensure they get a Ball in 2011."
"The campaign includes an online and written petition and a social media campaign including Facebook and Twitter."
"It is expected that the campaign will be campus-wide by tomorrow with information stands in each building encouraging student support."
Lynam added "The UCD Ball must go ahead and The Save Our Ball campaign will show the college just how important the UCD Ball is to our students."
The Save Our Ball campaign was launched on Monday April 4th following a meeting of the Students' Union Executive.
