UCD SU CONDEMN ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR ON DUBLIN BUS
UCD Students' Union has urged students to refrain from engaging in anti-social behaviour when using the Dublin Bus service. The warning comes after a number of cases of unacceptable behaviour which led to a threat of a complete withdrawal of the bus service to UCD.
UCD SU President Pat de Brún said "Dublin Bus provides a vital service to all students and we can't let the actions of a few ruin it for everyone. Bus drivers must be allowed to do their job without the added complications of dealing with unruly passengers. I want everyone to consider their actions when using the service for the coming year."
"One more incident will lead to a total withdrawal of Dublin Bus services to UCD. This would be a huge blow to students and effectively isolate the campus."
"I am calling on the university to work on increased public lighting around bus stops in addition to installing CCTV cameras to prevent and deter such incidences happening again."
To raise awareness, the Students' Union is launching a campaign across the campus to encourage students to act responsibly when using public transport.
