Things to do in UCD:
- Find the secret lake
- Go to a Lawsoc/L+H Debate
- Play darts in the Student Bar
- Drop in on a lecture: yes it sounds nerdy, but follow Steve Jobs' advice and take a class that actually interests you. UCD offers thousands of modules from feminism to childrens film so there is bound to be something that you want to know more about, check out the master timetable here
- Join a sports club or society
- Write an article on something that you care about and send it in to one of the college newspapers
- Grab a few of your friends and go for a kickabout on one of the main pitches
- Living on Res? Why not host a apt v apt competition in your house of Come Dine With Me - a great chance to meet the neighbours, have fun and get free meals cooked for you!
Free things to do in Dublin
- Visit the Áras: Say hi to Michael, or Sean, or Gay, or Martin, or Mary...though probably not Dána, on a free walking tour of the Presidents' Gaff, every Saturday between 10:15 and 15:30 (tours last around an hour)
- Comedy Crunch: Shebeen Chic on South Great George's Street offers night of free comedy on Sunday's featuring a whole range of stand up comedians so no matter your sense of humour you're sure to be amused. They also give you free ice cream which is always a bonus!
- Take an iWalk: download a podcast from visitdublin.com to get a free guided tour of the city, with podcasts available for Viking and Medieval Dublin, Dun Laoghaire and Georgian Dublin
- Take a Dublin Bike around the city and see how far you can get around in the free 30minute slot
- Join a library, and lost in a good read. Anyone who lives in Dublin is eligable to join the library, for more info check out this link
- Volunteer! Volunteering is fun, a great way to meet new people and a really selfless way to help others. There's all sorts of opportunities out there, from volunteering in animal shelters to teaching children to read; check out Volunteering Ireland's website
- Go for a run: Yes, the new sports centre is on its way, but while you're waiting why not go for a run and spend pricey gym memberships on stuff you really want.
