UCDSU works with

CHARITIES

The oldest and largest Rape Crisis Centre in Ireland, DRCC is an independent, non-profit organisation that aims to prevent the harm and heal the trauma of sexual violence in all its forms. We offer a range of supports and services to empower survivors as well their friends, families and supporters. Our dedicated staff and volunteers are there for anyone affected by sexual violence at any time, regardless of gender, sexuality, ethnicity or status. We take a holistic approach in our work:

  • providing 24-hour non-judgmental listening and crisis support via the National Helpline 1800 778888, which is free to all, and which has a webchat option as well as interpreting for those whose first language is not English (in office hours);

  • offering accompaniment support to survivors at the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit, reporting to Gardai, and attending court and other forums;

  • running specialist outreach & training, especially for those working in frontline services and with young people;

  • working on policy and law reform that aims to prevent sexual violence as well as improve conditions and services for survivors, including research and advocacy;

  • raising awareness and campaigning for change, particularly towards a healthier society that values consent, equality and respect as the foundation of healthy relationships and where sexual violence is not tolerated;

Threshold helps prevent homelessness by providing free and confidential advice to people in housing difficulty and by campaigning for a fairer housing system. In 2022, Threshold has helped over 20,000 households, including preventing almost 4,000 children and 6,000 adults from experiencing the trauma of homelessness. Donations to Threshold ensure our vital advice and campaigning work on behalf of renters and those at risk of homelessness can continue.

“Thanks once again for all your brilliant guidance and help in convincing me to stand up for my rights and proceed with this case…. Once again, a sincere thanks, and keep up the good work you and the team at Threshold are doing.”
