Hey everyone!

I'm Sarah and I'm your new Entertainments or Ents Officer. I ran for this position because I want to improve student life for every student in UCD, especially during these uncertain times.

I have previous experience with putting on events from my time as Hispanic Soc Auditor and Mental Health Coordinator

Hate walking into the library only to find there are no plug seats left? I will look at sourcing a number of portable phone and laptop chargers which will be made available from the SU.

The ENTS Discount Cards proved very popular last year so I will aim to do an extensive survey as to what discounts UCD Students would make the most out of and update them (ALWAYS USE YOUR

Puppy Cuddling has been missed in recent years so I would love to bring that back! I would also love to promote the great work of societies as they are a real backbone of student life!

I will host regular competitions with an emphasis on raising money for charity including trips to historic landmarks around Ireland, chances to win Coppers gold cards and Nightlife Black cards,
free dates around unique spots in Dublin voted on by students, as well as discounted professional photos and headshots - which can be used to improve your your LinkedIn or insta!

While the current situation may not immediately allow for regularly going out and travelling, it's still important knowledge! Students come to college to get a degree, but it is also a time to enjoy yourself! I will work with any UCD student to inform them on how they can get free in to nightclubs around Dublin, organize
cost-effective trips all over the world and integrate themselves into University life to ensure they make the most out of their time in college.

There has been an increased interest in vegan/vegetarian and gluten free options and there are not enough options available. I plan on pushing for more options for alternative dietary requirements to be considered at all SU-related events. Non-alcoholic events such as mocktail mixology classes will also take place next year for those of us who prefer to skip the pints. Oh also, The Happy Pear run an amazing Instagram account where they often demonstrate how to cook nutritious meals on a tight budget - savage for any college student.

College is an unreal opportunity to upskill yourself and prepare yourself for working life. I will be putting on a lot of free training workshops for students including workshops on event management, how to travel abroad on a budget, public speaking, barista training, LinkedIn optimisation and basic self-defence. If there is a new skill you would like to learn or if you have a suggestion, I want to hear it!

I am hopeful that once the pandemic regulations ease, I will be able to host ENTS sponsored competitions such as Karaoke, Virtual Reality, Xbox and more! Working together means better prizes with higher attendance!

By popular demand, the Ents cards are back again this year! These offer exclusive UCD student deals in a variety of places, with both online and in-person discounts!
