UCD STUDENTS’ UNION TO MARCH AT NATIONAL STUDENT PROTEST AND RAISE THE ROOF RALLY TOMORROW
UCD Students' Union will be taking part in the National Student Lockout and the Raise The Roof on Wednesday, October 3rd. This protest will highlight the dire accommodation crisis faced nationally by students. No home equals no education.
In light of this crisis, we are calling on the government to provide four things:
More reasonably priced student accommodation
Protection for students living in "digs" accommodation through legislation
Tenancy rights and rent caps for purpose-built student accommodation
Tackling overcrowding in shared accommodation
Thomas Monaghan, Campaigns and Communications Officer said;
‘If you have struggled to find affordable housing, been asked to accept unreasonable conditions in digs, had no access to basic amenities when paying extraordinary prices, noticed the extravagant over-priced purpose built student accommodation you are living in is not fit for purpose and realised you have no tenancy rights or rent caps or if you are simply SICK TO THE TEETH of trying to find a home in the current housing crisis, come march with us tomorrow and show that things need to change fast.’ #NoHomesNoEducation #RaisetheRoof
UCD Students’ Union invites all UCD students and student groups to join the National Student Lockout for housing and the Raise the Roof Rally tomorrow, Wednesday 3 October.
