UCDSU AND ARCTIC STONE OFFICIAL GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
ON 27 MARCH 2019 AT 10AM FOR THE MOST ROLLED ICE-CREAMS IN 24 HOURS
On 27 March at 9am in UCD Student Centre, UCD Students’ Union and Arctic Stone will be attempting an OFFICIAL GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most hand rolled ice cream made in 24 hours. This will be the First World Food Record that Ireland has achieved.
This event is open to the public and they can avail of UNLIMITED FREE ICE CREAM for 24 hours.
Thomas Monaghan, Campaigns and Communications Officer, UCD Students’ Union said;
‘We are aiming to make over 40,000 rolls of ice cream in 24 hours, all to be given out for free to the public! This is a massive undertaking that will need over 100 volunteers to make happen. This is the first World Food Record that Ireland has ever seen and the first World Record in hand rolled ice cream that THE WORLD has ever seen and we are ready to give it our all.
The event is all in aid of two incredible charities, the DRCC and The Peter McVerry Trust. So we’d encourage everyone, students, staff, groups of friends, families, to drop down to UCD on the 27th and eat as much ice cream as you can handle and throw some spare change into the buckets for our charities.
This event will have a zero food waste policy and if the public can’t eat it all at once we have freezers on hand and will hand out the ice cream until it is gone.’

‘For the last two years we have been planning on something extraordinary here at Arctic Stone. Teaming up with UCDSU we have created Irelands first ever food record attempt, as well as the only record in rolled ice cream in the world. The goal is to achieve global recognition and show that even though Ireland is a small country, we can have an incredible impact across the world and make it into the world's most recognised book, whilst having a positive impact on our local communities. The attempt will be a test of endurance, skill and stamina of each and every participant whilst keeping up to the highest quality of product over the course of 24 hours.’
