Your Graduate Officer 2016/17

Cian Casey

As your Graduate Officer, I deal with issues arising for postgrads in UCD, including: advice on modules; theses, obtaining much needed extensions and postgrad travel expenses. I am responsible for providing assistance on these issues and on issues relating to your welfare in UCD. If you want to chat over a problem, you can pop into me between the hours of 2 - 4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Otherwise, feel free to stop me for a chat if you see me around the Belfield campus or down in the Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. I’d love to hear any ideas you have for events and campaigns for the year and would like to encourage you all to get involved in the Students’ Union by attending the various events we hold on campuses and by running for Class Rep this year. Don’t forget to join our Facebook group “UCD Postgraduates 2016-17” to keep up to date with the Students’ Union as well as each other! Also, we could use your help coming up with advice for first years as part of our #DearFirstYearMe campaign over the first few weeks of Semester 1. If you have a story or helpful anecdote from your own experience of college for incoming students, please email it into research@ucdsu.ie along with your name and field of study and we’ll promote it on our posters and our social media.

My two main priorities for graduate students this year

1. Improve graduate access to travel funding & conferences

2. Set up a Common Room exclusive to Postgrads
