Welcome to the University Observer, your first point of reference for finding out what's going on in UCD. Founded by Dara O'Briain and Pat Leahy in 1994, it remains the most reputable and celebrated source of print media on campus, winning numerous awards at the National Student Media Awards every year. In April 2016 the University Observer won student newspaper of the year and website of the year, as well as achieving three nominations for journalist of the year, more than any other student paper.
Check out our website at www.universityobserver.ie or pick up a newspaper around campus and find out exactly what's going on in your college- from news to music, business to sport, the University Observer has your college experience sussed. You can also flick through the paper online at www.issuu.com/universityobserver
As UCD's unofficial school of journalism, make sure you check out the numerous workshops in everything from photojournalism to blogging that we'll be running this year, as well as our Working in Journalism lecture series from a selection of our former editors that have gone on to bigger and better things (who will hopefully give us a few tips on how to do the same).
We're always on the hunt for new contributors, so check out our signup sheet on our website at http://www.universityobserver.ie/jointheteam/ We look forward to seeing you in our office, located at the end of the societies corridor upstairs in the New Student Centre, at one of our contributor meetings or weekly coffee mornings over the year. As well as each print edition we produce, we also publish many articles online so there’s plenty of ways to get invovled!
