SU Helpdesk

Hi all and welcome to the Student Union Helpdesk. We are located in the Student Union offices in the Old Student Centre. Our aim is to provide a high quality, engaging and supportive service to all students, where they can seek information, guidance and support in a welcoming space.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

We are a professional, impartial, confidential and non-judgemental service, providing advice and support to help resolve your problems or if needed to assist you in identifying and accessing alternative advice and support. Drop in if you need to make an appointment with one of the Student Union Sabbatical officers, need a free pregnancy test, period products, condoms, lube, directions, to top up your water or for other freebies available on the day.

We can also provide information on Student Union events taking place. Feel free to browse through our website to find out more about what we do.

  • There is a printer in the Science building in the hub beside the circle tables. There is also one in the Health Science building and Newman.

  • If you need an official University stamp on your document, you can get this done at The Student Desk in the Tierney Building.

  • Societies are not run by the Students’ Union. If you have a question relating to UCD Societies, you can find out more information and contact details on their website HERE

  • If you are in need of grinds for your course, you can contact your Peer Mentor, Students Advisor or Programme Office and they will advise you.

  • Leap Card Over 24’s - Printing in the Campus Bookshop located under the James Joyce Library.

    Leap Card Under 24’s - go to www.leapcard.ie and select BUY. Then choose a “Young Adult Card”. Cards will be sent to your home address.

  • These are Irish Residence Permits for International Students. Students should make an appointment with the Department of Justice. To make an appointment call 1800 800 630

    If you need any advice on your IRP Card, you can book an appointment with your Student Immigration Advisor from UCD Global HERE

  • Everyone needs a permit unless you are a visitor and parking in the visitor car park. If you have a permit, you can’t park in visitor parking unless you pay for it. You will get clamped otherwise. Students who live on Res are NOT entitled to a parking permit. The reason is that parking is limited as it is, and if students that live on Res had a car parked here all the time, it means there are less parking spaces for commuters.

  • These can be bought from either the SU Library Shop or the SU Sports Shop.

  • All lost and found handed into the SU helpdesk will be stored here until the end of that week. If not collected by Friday of that week from the SU helpdesk, it will then be brought to estate services (under the AG building) where students can collect it

  • Looking for some official UCD Merch? There is a souvenir shop located in the Global Lounge.

  • The library has phone charging towers in each of their libraries, this service is free of charge.
