UCD Students’ Union exists to make sure every student has a voice, access to support and the opportunity to make the most of their time at UCD. We are the independent, democratic organisation that represents, supports and empowers students throughout their university journey.

Whether you need advice, want someone to advocate on your behalf, want to campaign for change or simply want to get more involved in student life, your Students’ Union is here for you.

Why we exist

UCDSU was created by students, for students. Since 1975, generations of UCD students have used their Union to improve life on campus, influence decisions that affect their education and campaign for positive change.

We believe that students are more than recipients of an education. They are active participants in shaping it. UCD Students' Union exists to provide the democratic structures, support and collective voice that enable students to organise, participate and make change happen.

Our role extends beyond the university itself. Students are members of both the UCD community and wider society, and many of the issues that affect student life — like housing, the cost of living, healthcare, equality, and climate change — cannot be solved on campus alone.

Through the Union, students can come together to advocate not only for a better university, but for a fairer society in which students can thrive.

Ultimately, UCDSU is more than a service provider or representative body. It is the vehicle through which UCD students collectively shape their university, influence the world around them and ensure that their voices are heard wherever decisions affecting them are made.

We make sure students have a voice across UCD through elected representatives, campaigns and engagement with university decision-making.
