Free Course for students regarding Fast vs Fair Fashion

Welcome to GITNB, a free seminar series focussed around the differences of “fast” fashion trends in comparison with “fair” or “sustainable” fashion. Over the course of four sessions, we want to explore the aspects of fast fashion together, guided by talks from a broad variety of speakers and backgrounds.

Each session will also contain interactive segments for group work. We will examine different aspects of the fashion industry, from its historical development over environmental and social impacts to modern trends, trendsetters and alternatives. Ultimately, you will get to use your new knowledge of sustainable fashion and have the opportunity to put on your own slow fashion show for the public with outfits you've put together with clothing from sustainable fashion outlets!

The best team will receive a prize too!

All undergraduate students are welcome and we can accommodate up to 30 students. The workshops will be held in University College Dublin, and will run weekly on Tuesdays from the 26th of September until the 17th of October, with the final fashion show taking place in the week of the 13th of November (Science Week Ireland). The course will be entirely free and includes a visit at the Rediscovery Centre in Dublin.

There are no requirements necessary to come to the event. An interest in either fashion and/or sustainability however might be an advantage!
