Speak Up: Module Feedback Window Is Now Open
The module feedback window is now open for the spring trimester, and UCDSU is encouraging students to take a few minutes to share their thoughts on their learning experience.
Every trimester, from Week 10 until the day before exams begin, students are invited to complete surveys for each module and in some cases, for individual lecturers too.
The process is anonymous, and UCD’s updated system is designed to “close the loop” by asking teaching staff to respond to class-wide feedback once surveys have closed.
Feedback is a vital part of how courses and teaching improve over time. When students speak up, it gives lecturers and schools the chance to reflect, adapt, and strengthen the academic experience for everyone.
“Student feedback helps shape what education looks like at UCD,” said Miranda Bauer, UCDSU President. “When it’s taken seriously, it doesn’t just improve individual modules, it builds a stronger university. We are also echoing UCD’s call to avoid bias in feedback and to focus on the quality of teaching and learning rather than personal characteristics or circumstances outside a lecturer’s control.”
“Student feedback should lead to positive change in our educational experience,” said Tia Cullen, UCDSU Education Officer. “We’re encouraging students to take part and give feedback on what works well and what could be improved in UCD. The Students' Union will continue to keep pressure on the university to follow through and implement students' suggestions. Respectful feedback deserves a respectful response.”
Over the next few weeks, UCDSU will be rolling out information to remind students that strong feedback doesn’t mean sugarcoating. it means being clear, fair, and constructive.
