Petition: UCD Call for Ceasefire and Peace in Palestine

Members of the UCD community have come together to launch a petition urging the university to reconsider its stance on the ongoing Israeli military activities in Palestine.

The petition, addressed to Prof. Orla Feely, President of UCD, calls for a lasting ceasefire and an end to the violence that has deeply affected communities in the region. Notably, the petition draws attention to the university's past condemnation of Russia's actions in Ukraine, emphasising the importance of consistency in addressing global conflicts.

The plea, initiated by concerned students and staff, underscores the significance of advocating for peace, human rights, and justice. The petitioners stress that the call for a ceasefire is not about taking sides but stands as a resolute commitment to the well-being of communities affected by conflict.

The petition highlights the responsibility of institutions with a global reach to actively engage in matters that impact the broader human experience.
