Transport Update โ€“ December 2025

Commuting to college can be stressful enough without unreliable bus services. Hereโ€™s the latest on local services, and how students can continue to push for improvements in 2026.

S6 & S8 Updates โ€“ In Effect from 30 November ๐Ÿš

Since 30 November, the following changes have been introduced:

  • S6 โ€“ Higher frequency timetable to reduce ghost buses, bus delays, and meaning more S6s will be on the road increasing the overall frequency of the service .

  • S8 โ€“ Adjusted runtimes to improve overall reliability.

These announced changes are welcome news. Weโ€™ve been advocating for better services on these routes for some time, so thanks to all students who shared their experiences with us and with the transport authorities, and to TDs, especially Ciarรกn Ahern, for helping push this forward.

Even with these updates, buses can still let students down. If your bus doesnโ€™t show up, report it at www.noshowbus.ie. Every missed service logged helps build the case for real improvements. College is stressful enough without your bus ghosting you!

Dublin Student Commuter Survey โ€“ Win โ‚ฌ250

Your experiences matter. Aontas na Mac Lรฉinn in ร‰irinn (USI) is collecting student commuter stories across Dublin. The survey results will help lobby TDs, councillors, and the NTA for better, fairer, and more reliable transport.

It only takes a few minutes, and youโ€™ll also be entered into a โ‚ฌ250 One4All voucher draw!

New Commuter Campaign Co-Ordinator

At Union Council on 17 November, Ryan Dolan was elected UCDSU Commuter Campaign Co-Ordinator.

This role adds extra focus on tackling ongoing commuting challenges. Ryan will work with the Campaigns & Engagement Officer, Kelvyn Fields, in the Campaigns Forum to drive campaigns and amplify student voices across Dublinโ€™s transport network; building on the advocacy seen during the 145 bus campaign earlier this year.

With your help reporting missed buses and completing surveys, we can make sure 2026 brings real improvements for student commuters.
